TALES FROM NOWHERE
“Difficult second album” is a persistent and tired cliche, but an accurate one still. The vast majority of Tales From Nowhere was written in the two or three months after The Atlantics’ debut, but financial problems, loss of the original recordings and plain lack of creativity delayed its release again and again. Here it is. Far more collaborative an effort - it features Forever The Young three times, Anchor Of My Presence twice, and two more collabs with Tomashevski and Rose respectively. The collaborations bring enough freshness, the desperate attempts at actually writing things enough originality, the constant revisions enough polish, to make it a more coherent album than the last. The common theme throughout both? Effort, hard work, and genuine passion. When you listen to Tales From Nowhere, that shines through enough to make it worthwhile.

CLOSED MINDS THINK ALIKE
The Atlantics found themselves in a strange position at the time of this album’s original release. At the time, they were a two-person band, formed at university and never really intended to continue beyond that, who submitted a song (The Little One, which appears here) to the Now That’s What I Call POM contest, entirely as a joke to see if they’d even get a response. They placed third, and suddenly they blew up. Staring genuine success in the face, they did what any alternative band would do in such a situation; refuse the label offers, not play any shows, and hide until it blew over. Guitarist Kiera Sinclair finished working on her two-year project, and it was released to critical acclaim but fairly poor sales. Since then, they’ve realised they need to eat. Here the album is, slightly edited, just under half an hour, featuring The Little One, Rebirth Pains, and Rumours, and possibly, this time, in a position to actually feed the band members. We can but hope.

The Atlantics' Bio
The Atlantics is a band who was too cool to be on a record label until they realized that they were making 0 money and needed to eat. After being assured that C&BR would never interfere with their creative process - and promising free nachos - the members of the band agreed to join this place.
